A RUTLAND woman has been voted as the face of an underwear company for curvy women.

Lizzie Haines, 30, of Thorpe’s Terrace, Uppingham, was announced as the winner of the Curvy Kate Star in a Bra competition yesterday.

She will be the face of the brand for one year and has won £500 worth of underwear and a spa day.

She said: “I am overwhelmed and I’m incredibly flattered and proud that I get to be the face of Curvy Kate for a year.

“It’s just a great brand and supports women of all shapes and sizes.”

Lizzie, who runs her own craft company, was one of 400 women who entered the competition nationwide which was whittled down to 10 finalists. The public then voted on Facebook for the person they would like to be the face of Curvy Kate.

The first photo shoot for the autumn/winter collection will take place on Monday.

Lizzie said: “I’ve had a very love hate relationship with body since my early teens but the new influx of curvy models instead of constantly stick thin ones is giving an injection of confidence to all women that actually it’s OK and variety is the spice of life.

“I would like to say thank you to the people who voted for me. I have had some amazing support and everyone has been fantastic.

“I couldn’t have done it without you.”
