A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a knife wound near a block of flats in Derwent Drive, Oakham.
Emergency services were called at about 12.40pm today after reports that someone had been stabbed.
Paramedics and East Midlands Emergency Care Scheme doctor Leon Roberts attended the scene and treated a 47-year-old man who had suffered a single knife wound to the lower abdomen.
A Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance helicopter landed in the street and flew the injured man to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham at about 1.30pm.
Police refused to reveal the extent of his injuries.
A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Derwent Drive is closed between Welland Way and Braunston Road. Police are at the scene but did not know when would reopen.
