Villagers were having fun in the sun at an annual summer event.

Market Overton Feast was held throughout the village and raised funds for local projects and causes.

Villagers enjoyed a concert in the village church, strawberry teas, a scarecrow trail, in which more than 50 families took part, a tour around open gardens and much more.

Organisers are still counting up the funds raised but they were delighted with the weather and turnout.

Organiser Lisa Barnett said: “The whole weekend went really well and we were happy with the good weather and good turnout.

“It was lovely.”

Bakers also competed in the Great Market Overton Bake Off, held in the village hall, as part of the weekend’s events.

Judge Bruce Strickland was very impressed with the standard of all the entries and has thanked all those who took part.

Jill Measures won the sponge cake category, Angela Taylor triumphed in the cup cake class and Lynn Lane claimed victory in the biscuit category, while Wendy Williamson won the scone class.

Jill was crowned overall winner and her prize was a cream tea for two at the Castle Cottage Cafe in Oakham.
