Hundreds of people enjoyed an open garden event at Grimsthorpe Castle in the summer weather last week.

More than 500 people visited the grounds of the castle as part of the National Gardens Scheme event which raises money for charity.

Grimsthorpe estate manager Ray Biggs said: “It was a good day. People were out enjoying the spring conditions for the first time this year and seeing what Grimsthorpe has to offer families.”

The castle runs open garden events each year. Mr Biggs said the amount raised is still being calculated but he expects it to exceed last year.
