A volunteer from a care home in Bourne has given an award for her service.

More than 56 Lincolnshire care home staff from 16 homes were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the 2012 Lincolnshire Staff Awards.

One of the winners was Janice Lawton from Digby Court in Christopher’s Lane, Bourne.

Janice won the special recognition award for voluntary service from the Orders of St John Care Trust.

After leaving her job as an administrator in 2011, Janice returned to the home as a volunteer to support staff and residents.

She recently organised a reunion event at the home to celebrate the trust’s 20th anniversary and regularly works with residents on their life history work to help better understand the individual.
