A SUPERMARKET has helped raise £2,000 for a local church.

Waitrose in West Street, Stamford, raised the funds for Christ Church in Green Lane.

The store held wine and cheese tasting evenings, sold gifts and staff helped shoppers with bag packing to help with the donation.

Marketing coordinator Kelham Cooke said: “Christ Church is our long term commitment to working within the communities in which we trade.

“We first became involved with the church in August 2011 and since then we’ve helped them to raise just over £2,000.”
