A BOOKSHOP in Bourne looks likely to shut down this summer.
Walkers Bookshop in North Street is expected to close in August after a decline in trading.
Owner Tim Walker said:: “I can confirm that we are consulting with our staff in Bourne about the likelihood of our shop having to close towards the middle of August.
“These decisions are always heartbreaking to make, especially when everyone has worked so hard at making the shop a success.
“However, over the last five years we have seen the steady decline in the number of people shopping within the centre of Bourne.
“Initially the loss of Woolworths made a big difference to the town and more recently the opening of Tesco away from the town centre has meant that significantly fewer people are shopping in the centre of Bourne.”
Mr Walker said the company’s other shops in Stamford, Oakham and Sleaford will be unaffected by this potential closure.
