PEOPLE filled a windmill outline with coins in a bid to bring a Dutch choir to Stamford.

The Woven Chords community choir, based in Stamford, is hoping to host a choir from Holland for four days in October.

To raise funds they drew a windmill on the floor of the ballroom in Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday and asked members of the public to fill it with coins to make a mosaic.

By the end of the day the windmill was complete and the choir had raised £166.

Musical director Liz Underhill said: “The total we raised is amazing. We didn’t know how much people would donate but it really caught the imagination of the children, who kept coming back again and again.”

The choir’s final fundraising effort will be a summer concert at 2pm on Sunday, July 1, at St Michael and All Angels Church, Uffington.

Tickets are £10. To get yours phone Liz on 01476 550972 or e-mail liz@wovenchords.com.
