WINDY weather did not stop more than 100 people taking part in the Walk4Rutland from Greetham on Sunday.

The event is organised every year by the Rotary Club of Rutland, but this year took a new route across the Exton Estate to Fort Henry with permission from the Earl of Gainsborough.

The rotary club teamed up with Greetham Community Centre this year and hopes to raise about £2,000 from the event, which will go to groups in the area.

Peter Lawson, the High Sheriff of Rutland, was there to see them off and welcome them back again.

Organising committee member Charles Robershaw, of Limefield, Oakham, said: “Everyone enjoyed it tremendously and the new route went down very well indeed.

“We thought it was a great success and hope to build on that in the future and hope to be back at Exton again next year.”
