MAKING her own mark on the forthcoming diamond jubilee weekend is retired community warden Teresa Mclean, who has produced a commemorative booklet in aid of Three Counties Dog Rescue.

Teresa, 63, of Witham-on-the-Hill, spoke to scores of people and gathered in 60 memories of the Coronation Year, one for each year of the Queen’s reign.

The resulting booklet, sponsored by a Spire Homes community grant, is a quirky selection of people’s memories, including one purporting to be from one of the Queen’s corgis at that time.

Happy and sad anecdotes are accompanied by pictures and, to give you a flavour of the time, a recipe for coronation chicken and instructions on how to make a ginger beer plant.

Intended as a gift, We Remember The Coronation has a bookplate printed inside the front cover on which to inscribe your good wishes.

It costs £3 and copies can be obtained from Ryhall village post office, Spire Homes office in Oakham and from Three Counties Dog Rescue stalls at the Lions’ Fun Day on Stamford Meadows on June 3, Uffington Scarecrow Festival on June 4, or from Marjorie Briggs on 01780 764486 who will give a discount to anyone buying ten or more copies.
