Work to start on Croft homes

PREPARATORY work has started at The Croft in Bourne as it is finally due to be redeveloped after standing empty for years.

Larkfleet Homes is one of the partners involved in the £8m retirement village at the site in North Road and builders have now put up the timber frames for the portable office.

A spokesman for the developers said they have applied to South Kesteven District Council for planning permission for the office which they hoped to gain a few days ago.

He added: “We are currently carrying out some site works in preparation for this temporary structure.”

Acting lead professional for the district council Paul Green said: “The application is likely to be approved before the end of the month.”

The developers already have planning permission for building 68 homes at the site.

Larkfleet has recently joined forces with Keystone Developments for the community development, which will include one and two-bedroom bungalows and three-bedroom houses.

The retirement village plan was approved in 2009.

The old manor house on the site will be preserved as part of the new development.

In 2005 an application for 51 homes on the site was turned down following a planning inquiry.
