A CAT which holds the Guinness World Record for the loudest purr will be at a bookstore.

Smokey and his owner Ruth Adams, from Northampton, will be at Walkers Bookshop in High Street, Stamford, on Saturday between 11am and 2.30pm.

Ruth has penned a book called Smokey The Very Loud Purring Cat, which she will be signing. There will also be prizes on offer.

Smokey, an eight-year-old British shorthair, has a purr measuring 67.7 declibels, which is 14 times louder than the average cat’s purr.

Smokey is also featured in the June issue of Stamford-based magazine Your Cat.
