CHILDREN learnt the Brazilian drums during a music workshop.
St Gilbert’s Primary School in Foundry Road, Stamford, held the music day for children in Year 5 on Thursday last week.
An expert in Brazilian drumming visited the school to give children the lessons, which started with body percussion where the children used parts of their body to make sounds and put together a harmony.
They also had a go on the drums playing rhythms.
Year 5 and 6 teacher Jo Appleton, who organised the workshop, said the children really enjoyed the day.
She said: “We’ve never had Brazilian drumming in school before but we had this opportunity for them to come in and it was fantastic.
“All the children had an amazing time and even the children, who aren’t particularly musical, really made the most of it.
“It is definitely something we would consider having in school again.”
