Primary school pupils had fun at a science week which included launching a rocket on the school field in front of children, staff and parents.

A whole range of activities took place throughout the week at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy, including a whole school ‘egg drop’ where children had to design a protective device to carry an egg and then drop it from a variety of heights. They also created an armchair from recycled plastic.

The week culminated in a visit by Year 4 and Year 5 children to Fulbridge Academy in Peterborough where they were entertained by a Science Show by Dr Tim Harrison from Astra Zeneca.

Teacher Kirstin Swanson said: “It was lovely to see the children engaged in activities, experiments and investigations which they would not normally have the opportunity to experience.”
