PRIMARY school pupils rounded off a musically themed week with an African drumming workshop.

Children at Malcolm Sargent Primary School in Stamford had a great time thumping out rhythms during the workshop on Friday last week.

The school, in Empingham Road, had put on a musically themed arts week for youngsters, which included a host of activities.

Pupils had a great time during the week making instruments from junk, including a straw oboe and lollipop harmonicas.

The also learnt the story of Peter and the Wolf and listened to the musical version.

The week rounded off with a concert for parents on Friday afternoon.

Key Stage 1 phase leader Mina Spilbury said that youngsters enjoyed the African drumming workshop.

She said: “They were just aghast, particularly the boys.

“They were just loving it.”
