CHILDREN in Market Overton enjoyed their new play equipment at an official opening on Sunday.

The new play equipment for toddlers was installed on March 23 and has been paid for in part by two grants, with the Cory Trust giving £5,400 and the Rutland Radio Community Cash Award, sponsored by Rutland Plastic bringing in £500.

The opening coincided with an Easter event which was well attended with more than 80 children taking part in the egg trail, with all eggs donated by food manufacturers Mars.

Also on offer was face painting, biscuit and plant pot decorating, a cake sale and raffle.

Market Overton Play Area Association co-chairman Antonia Profit said: “It was really good, a lot more people turned out than we expected. “Normally with events like these it’s just supported by people from Market Overton but people came in from all the surrounding villages.

“We are very happy, the new equipment has transformed the play area.

“We have had loads of positive feedback.”

The Easter event raised £465.
