Letter: Cash-strapped but show’s a triumph!

The College Players are to be congratulated when, being short of funds, they managed to make enough money among themselves to finance their latest production Act Your Age – a musical farce by Brian Clemens and Christopher Wortley at Stamford Arts Centre Theatre.

From the moment the stalwart Nancy Simpson and her band of musicians appeared to open proceedings, the packed audience was treated to an evening of traditional, heart-warming farce which made fun of the modern cult of celebrity.

When the troupe of old folk arrived, some on their Zimmer frames, Grahamme in his wheelchair, hoping to catch a glimpse of Victoria (supposedly visiting the celebrity sanctuary) it was fun all the way, interspersed with the arresting of a couple of jewel thieves.

It was a super show for a miserable November evening, with catchy songs and dancing, and the director Martyne Miller and her production team did a wonderful job.

It was very appropriate that a collection was made for Age Concern.
