Letter: Rally against wind farm application

Have your say

So RES are renewing the threat that has been hanging over Rutland’s countryside, with a plan for a wind farm at Woolfox with turbines almost as monstrous as those previously proposed by SSE.

I hope all Rutlanders will rally together to oppose it strongly as it is not only those in the immediate vicinity that will be affected. If the proposal gets through and Rutland is seen to be an easy touch for developers it could be inundated with a flood of wind farm applications as bad as experienced by Northants and Cornwall.

Our countryside is precious – once spoilt you will never get it back and we are its stewards for posterity. To sacrifice our heritage for ephemeral, intermittent, not-very-green electricity is to sell our birth right for a mess of potage.

Julian Lessey,
