The first tombola raising funds on behalf of ‘For Rutland-In Rutland’ at the new venue for the Rutland County Show was a magnificent success.

Over 1,800 bottles were received and over £5,000 was taken on the day.

All the fund raising committee and the volunteers involved with helping with the tombola want to thank the people of Rutland and the surrounding areas for their amazing and very substantial support.

However, our thanks doesn’t stop here, none of this could have happened without the continued support and hard work of all our faithful collectors of the villages in and around Rutland.

Also, we have a very important back-up team of friends eager to help us for Rutland, so we would like to thank:-

- Quoin Print Company for helping us so quickly with our emergency printing;

- Bill Doody yet again for providing our sorting and storing venue;

- Jeff Dale for transporting all the bottles intact to the
Show;

- Ron Grant Removals for transporting all our equipment; and

- Jenny Dale who stores all the equipment throughout the year and all the collection points throughout our area.

A special mention must be made to Johnny Baker, who worked over and above the call of duty to help us get ‘set-up’ for the day, these are all people dedicated to Rutland and we are so grateful for their phenomenal continued support and help.

We were so fortunate that ‘For Rutland-In Rutland’ was chosen by Trevor Ellis, the President of the Rutland Agricultural Society, for his charity this year and the Mayor of Oakham, Councillor Jayne Woodcock has kindly chosen us, as well, for her charity for her important year.

This new initiative is firstly funding the Rutland Wellbeing Partnership based at the Rutland Citizens Advice Bureau, in the High Street in Oakham, providing an expert advisor answering queries and help with benefits, initially working with Cancer and Dementia, then including other needs that will be highlighted as the initiative develops.

We are so fortunate to have the support of so many enthusiastic followers in Rutland, this is a significant initiative raising money to be spent in this area and we know where all our funds raised will be used.

Please do not hesitate to contact Elizabeth Mills 07710 873811 or Trish Ruddle 01572 724400/07801 319222 if you need any answers to your questions or any information about this important fundraising group for Rutland.

The continuation of the support from everyone involved is gratefully received and we are looking forward to the next tombola in 2015!
