Music in Lyddington concertgoers enjoyed a superb evening's entertainment from the acclaimed Endellion Quartet, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
The concert opened with Mozart's String Quartet in D Minor, in which the players displayed exquisite timing and the perfect rapport that marks out their superb performance quality.
This was followed by Benjamin Britten's beautifully constructed S
tring Quartet Number 3, with a tremendous display of intricate playing and total balance.
The players made it all look so simple and yet such a perfectly woven masterpiece.
The final piece was Beethoven's String Quartet in E Minor, one of three that were written for Count Razumovsky, the Imperial Russian Ambassador in Vienna.
A Russian folksong theme is woven into the third movement of this marvellous piece that yet again, served as an admirable platform for the Endellion Quartet to communicate their sensitive interpretation of the composition.
It was a memorable evening, which reminded us how fortunate we are to be able to attract world-class players to this beautiful village church.
This second concert of the season enjoyed a full house yet again, which clearly demonstrates the wide appeal that these quality events represent to music lovers in Rutland.
Music in Lyddington's next concert on Saturday June 13th will feature Luis Pares, the celebrated Venezuelan/Italian pianist.
Music lovers are strongly advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
