OAKHAM joined communities from 37 other countries to screen a special film for World Water Day.
The Canadian documentary Blue Gold – World Water Wars was shown at the Catmose Film Society in conjunction with the WaterAid Rutland Fundraising Group.
Forty people attended the event on Monday last week at the Vale of Catmose College.
Abigail Bishop, curator and community arts manager, said: "It was a memorable and informative way to celebrate World Water Day."
The film gave graphic examples of how water shortages are already beginning to affect large portions of the world and experts explained how the situation will only get worse without action.
The film concluded with a message of hope for people to help out before it's too late.
WaterAid committee member John Findlay hosted a discussion after the film.
