BURGHLEY Park lost their way on more than one occasion in Saturday's narrow Division One defeat at Orton Park.
The match had to be reduced to 35 overs when Burghley went to Upwood instead of Orton and they then saw the match slip from their grasp after a one-run defeat.

Burghley bowled out their hosts for 155 as Matt Williams finished with 4-35 while Richard Foster took 2-13 and Will Felgate 1-35.

Orton slumped from 124-4 to 142-8 and Burghley were soon on top again when they batted.

Foster and Richard Sabin put on a partnership of 122 for the first wicket, both passing the half-century mark until Sabin was bowled by Andrew Gilbert for 61.

Orton were inspired by the wicket and a superb bowling spell saw Albinson bowled for one and N. Sabin and Williams both follow for ducks.

With the score at 138-4, Foster and Felgate struggled towards the total and, despite having six wickets in hand, they lost by a solitary run. Foster was left unbeaten at the end with 72.
