STAMFORD have moved to avert a potential midfield crisis by signing ex-Northampton and Lincoln City playmaker Ryan Amoo.
Amoo is set to make his Daniels debut in Saturday's must-win UniBond Division One South clash with play-off rivals Rushall Olympic.
Manager Dougie Keast swooped to sign the 25-year-old - who once dated reality television star Jade Goody - after losing the services of midfielder Matt Oswin whose work commitments mean he will not be available on a Saturday any more.
Amoo was part of Aston Villa's FA Youth Cup-winning team before going on to make more than 50 Football League appearances for the Cobblers and the Imps.
He has played for Midland Alliance side Barwell and Leicestershire Senior League outfit Thurnby this season in a bid to gain fitness and Keast was delighted with his new acquisition.
He said: "Ryan's a good passer of the ball and has good technique.
"You don't play for the likes of Northampton and Lincoln in the Football League if you haven't got something to offer."
Keast could also be boosted by the return on Saturday of fellow midfielder Danny Steadman who has been plagued by injuries in recent weeks.
Striker Phil Stebbing, who has missed the last three games with a groin injury, could also feature while skipper Chris Gray and defender Paul Sheehan both return after missing last week's defeat at Rushall due to suspensions.
And Keast feels the return of the quartet, the signing of Amoo and the recent acquisitions of Peterborough United youngsters Lewis Webb and Scott Ginty will boost the Daniels' promotion push after his side slipped out of the play-off places in midweek.
Glapwell leap-frogged the Daniels after their 6-2 home win over Goole on Tuesday night and also still have two games in hand on the Daniels who will be looking to bounce back after seeing their 20-match unbeaten league run ended at Rushall last Saturday.
The defeat also allowed the Pics to close the gap on Stamford as they look for a quick-fire double over the Daniels in Saturday's return clash at the Vic Couzens Stadium.
Keast commented: "It's really important to win on Saturday because we cannot afford to lose any ground.
"It's a game we have got to win because reaching the play-offs is the least of our ambitions.
"We have so much to play for. We have got ourselves in a great position and it's important we capitalise on it. We need to bounce back very quickly.
"We didn't deserve to lose on Saturday, but lacked that little bit of quality to create from our possession with so many players out.
"Rushall worked hard and closed us down and got forward quickly. They were difficult to break down, but they're more than beatable.
"We will be twice as strong again on Saturday. We'll be more competitive and have more about us without being disrespectful to the players who played on Saturday."
