MARKET Deeping consolidated third place in the Lincolnshire League Premier Division with a comfortable win at Nettleham.
Fresh from their Jaidka Cup win over rivals Bourne on Wednesday, Deeping batted first and made 163-9. A larger total had looked on the cards with the top order all getting starts but failing to progress.
McDougall reached 25 before he was caught, wh
ile Wright made 32, Kearns made 17 and Dave Gillett reached 36.
Andrews, P. Bird and Morgan all fell cheaply before captain Nick Cowley helped push the score on with 26, but Sharp, Kearns and C. Bird could only manage a further 5 between them. Cook was Nettleham's pick of the bowlers, taking 3-30 from 16.2 overs.
The target looked more than reachable for the hosts and they made a good start with P. Brown reaching 40 before he was caught.
A 34 from M. Smith before he was caught by Kearns helped push Nettleham along but only one other batsman reached double figures as the hosts were all out for 120, a 43 run loss.
M. Kearns had a great day with the ball as he took 4-28 off 14 overs, while Tom Andrews followed up his man-of-the-match perform-ance in the Jaidka Cup with 3-31 off just nine overs.
* BOURNE bounced back from their second successive Jaidka Cup final defeat with a four wicket win at Sleaford which lifts them to fourth.
Batting firsts the hosts made what looked like a competitive 152-8 - Tomlin (36) and Edwardson (23) the pick of the batsmen, while Hopkis (3-48 off 14), Clough (2-24 off 12) and Stroud (2-24 off nine) impressed with the ball.
Bourne had skipper Dave Christmas to largely thank for reaching their total.
Christmas was unbeaten on 68, while Stroud (23), Clough (18) and Hopkins (15) all contibuted as the visitors reached 156.
Hollingworth took 3-57 off 15 overs for the hosts.
