PACTRAC'S fourth mini-series race of the season was at Oundle with a 400 yard swim, 10-mile bike ride, and 3.5 mile run.
Simon Hoppe won his second mini-series race in a row, and now leads the PACTRAC Club Championship race.
Only Josh Daniels or Dave Allsop can catch him now.
The race for Mini-Series Champion is still wide open, with 5 races left, and an athlete's be
st five races to count.
27 athletes competed last Wednesday, with new member Adam Arnoff leading Neil Tandy out of the water.
Simon Hoppe followed eight seconds later with a gap already opening on his leading rivals.
Sean Beard was three minutes behind Simon in 23rd place.
Simon extended his lead on the bike, over all except Mark Warren, who moved into second place, only 25 seconds behind.
It was a further 1.40 minutes before Rob Hammond appeared in 3rd place.
Sean, meanwhile, moved up into 7th position, 3.22 minutes behind Simon and nearly two minutes behind Mark.
Sean had the fastest run of the evening beating his own best split time from 2004 by four seconds, and running home just six seconds behind Matt Gunby's course run record of 19.39 from last year.
Sean moved up into 2nd place by the finish, reeling in everybody except Simon, who he finished just under two minutes behind.
Of the 27 competitors, three were first-timers, and eight recorded personal best times, including Tom Smith who went under the hour for the first time.
