A SECOND half double from player-manager Darren Munton saw Bourne take all the points at Northampton Spencer.
A strong swirling wind made for a tough game but Bourne adapted quickly and after a balanced opening 25 minutes the first clear chance fe
ll to young Jack Hutchinson who headed narrowly wide.
Moments later Munton sent an inch perfect pass to put Glen Spearink one-on-one, but he couldn’t finish.
Bourne eventually took the lead when Tom Cardall struck a shot from outside the area which took a wicked deflection and looped over the stranded keeper.
The second half was only five minutes old when Darren Munton swept home Bourne’s second after the home defence failed to deal with a bouncing ball.
Munton added his second and Bourne’s third midway through the half and Bourne should have scored more but Hutchinson and Benni Schiavi were both denied by fabulous saves.
The win moves the Wakes to third.
Munton said: “It was a good solid all round team performance, probably the best of the season so far. Spencer is always a difficult place to come and get a result and to win comfortably was very pleasing.”
