Matson to spearhead promotion push

DEEPING striker Danny Matson has signed for UniBond Premier Division side Boston United – but is expected to remain at Outgang Road for the foreseeable future.
Matson switched his UniBond registration from Stamford – who he signed for in pre-season – to the Pilgrims on Tuesday, but Deeping boss Tuncay Korkmaz expects the highly-rated frontman to be in his squad for Saturday's home game with Daventry Town.
He explained: "Boston submitted a seven-day approach to Stamford and, as the transfer has to be completed within 28 days, Danny signed this week.
"However, as long as we are in with a chance of promotion, he has indicated to me that he will be playing for Deeping.
"If it looks like we're not going to be in the running for the top three than Danny, as well as a couple of other players, might try their luck at a higher level."
Ex-Stamford defender Graham Bowater has left Deeping in a bid to secure regular first-team football after failing to break into the side.
