RANGERS boss Andy Saddington admitted his side had a off-day as they crashed out of the Leicestershire Senior Cup on Saturday.
The Rutlanders conceded two penalties, including one after only 20 seconds, as their nine-match unbeaten run came to an end against their Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division hosts.
Rangers had managed to overcome their early setback to l
ead 2-1, but saw that advantage wiped out by a direct and physical Constabulary side.
Saddington said: "It was just one of those days, it wasn't one of our better performances.
"We got back into the game after conceding an early goal and looked as right as rain.
"We were under no pressure, but then lost our way and, at times, looked like side who had never played together before."
Constabulary took an early control of proceedings as they swept forward straight from kick-off and won a penalty which they successfully converted to lead.
However, within the opening 10 minutes, Rangers had hit back to lead 2-1.
Richard Nelson brought them level by netting at the back post from a corner and then Robbie Pearce dispossessed a home defender before firing home.
Michael Duggan pulled off a good save to keep Rangers in front before Nelson had an effort disallowed for offside.
The hosts levelled a minute before half-time when Rangers failed to deal with a long ball down the middle and, although Duggan saved the initial shot, he was beaten by the rebound.
Constabulary took the lead for a second time in the contest five minutes after half-time when Rangers' defence completely missed an incoming free-kick which gave an unmarked home forward an easy chance to score.
The lead was increased just past the hour mark when Rangers conceded another penalty after a clumsy challenge in the box.
They could have still have salvaged something from the second round contest as Stu Lambie had a goal disallowed and then hit the crossbar before Muzzy Saddington saw an effort cleared off the line.
