School misses out in national cricket finals

THE finals of the David Cross Memorial State School Cricket League (U13) and the Fred Trueman National Schools League (U15) were held on Burghley Park.
The U13 final was won by Sawtry College who defeated Bourne Grammar School by 26 runs.
Batting first Sawtry reached a total of 70-7 off their 20 overs with Bream top scoring with 19.
In reply, Bourne never got into contention, losing wickets regularly to finish on 44 with Smith taking 3 wickets.
The U15 final was won by Longsands College from St. Neots, who beat Bourne Grammar School by 8 wickets.
Bourne batted first and reached 85 in their 20 overs with Gaucci top scoring with 17.
For Longsands, D. Skillhorn bowled an excellent spell taking 3-12 from his 4 overs.
In reply Longsands comfortably reached their target with 4 overs to spare. J. Dawborn top scored with an excellent 39 to take Longsands to their target and secure the Fred Trueman U15 Trophy.
