OAKHAM extended their lead at the top of Rutland League Division Three with a 56-run win over Ufford Park.
Oakham were put into bat by the home side and Will Clough struck immediately, taking the wicket of Paul Roebuck without scoring.
Paul Bentley then removed Juan Drotskie for 20 and Raju Sharma for eight to leave Oakham on 35-3.
James Booth then proceeded to dominate the Ufford bowlers, smashing eight fours and seven sixes before he was finally run out for 90.
Oakham added another 61 runs after Booth's departure and finished on 198-8 with Tim Hubbard not out on 14.
Miles Weber removed Ufford opener Andy Hills for 16, but Ross Keymer and Clough added 62 to take the score to 81.
Oakham took seven wickets for 30 runs to quash any hopes of an Ufford victory as they were eventually all out for 142, Clough and James Grigson joint top-scored with 32.
The undoubted star bowler was Sharma who took an impressive 7-28 from nine overs.
Uppingham Town 2nds ended their home campaign with a Division Six derby success over Oakham.
After winning the toss, Uppingham chose to bat first and openers Alan Brown and Chris Thomas had to show a great deal of patience against some very tight bowling from Lawrence Green and Matt Osman as the first six overs were maidens on a damp, low, slow wicket.
As runs started to come so did chances and both openers holed out trying to accelerate the run-rate for 14 and 23 respectively.
Charles Richardson, after being promoted up the order to number four, took centre stage as he put together a well-compiled 67 which, along with 22 not out from in-form Kev Bennett, helped Uppingham to 169-7 in 45 overs.
Oakham found things no easier out in the middle and, although batsmen got starts, wickets kept falling and it was that man Richardson again whose introduction of cheeky off-spin kept the visitors on the back foot and saw him finish with figures of 6-31 from his 12 overs.
A spirited effort from Andi Ainscough (25no) and Green (23no) helped them close on 161-9 from 45 overs.
Ufford Park 2nds heaped more misery on King's Cliffe at the bottom of the Division Seven table after a seven-wicket victory.
King's Cliffe were bowled out inside 38 overs for only 117 as Chris Lightfoot took four wickets and was ably supported by Terry Rawlings, Peter Corder and Parr.
Despite the early losses of Nigel Clough, Jason White and Louis Grimoldby, Lightfoot and Andy Mason batted extremely well together to knock off the remaining 105 runs without losing another wicket.
Lightfoot ended the innings 36 not out while Mason finished with an unbeaten half-century on 67 not out as Ufford walked away with 19 points.
Market Overton broke their Division One duck with a 79-run success over Buckminster on Sunday.
The bottom-of-the-table Rutlanders had been shot out for 160 by their hosts, but a superb bowling display helped dismiss Buckminster for 81.
Yahathudoga (27) and Fonseka (25) had been the pick of the Marko batsmen while Adam Clarke (26) and Simon Harrison (20no) responded well after a mid-order collapse.
Buckminster began their chase badly as both their openers were removed cheaply by Brian Makwana.
Andrew Murdoch and Jamie Morgan began to rebuild the innings, but both were run out as Overton pushed for victory.
Lee Freer bowled extremely well for Marko as he took 4-14 to mop up the lower order while Mark Hudson and Nick Armstrong also took a wicket apiece.
Uppingham Town moved to within a point of Market Deeping at the top of Division Two thanks to a 33-run victory over Yaxley.
Town were dismissed on a bowler's wicket for 153 with Mark Cox (35) and Scott Jessop (32) topping the scorecharts.
Uppingham also made the most of the conditions as Yaxley's top order was blown away by Cox who returned 4-12.
Skipper Michael Beaver removed Yaxley's top scorer Nick Page for 24 and then Scott Green (3-32) wrapped up the tail to round off an efficient bowling display by the visitors.
Stamford Town narrowly lost a vital match at Newborough in the penultimate over of a very good contest played in an excellent spirit.
Town got off to a steady start with Bryan Bennett falling for 27 when looking in good touch.
After Gary Peck (40) and skipper Liam Dave had doubled the score to 150-4, it was left to Dave to cut loose at the end, smashing an unbeaten 75 off just 64 balls to push them up to 190-6 from their 45 overs.
Young Andrew Rowland deserved special credit for picking up both openers for just eight runs in six overs.
Newborough, in reply, lost early wickets and at 96-4 were in a very perilous position with Chris Birch bowling well and Steve Armstrong turning the ball.
However, Stamford missed several crucial chances at pivotal moments and were then put to the sword in the final 10 overs by Ross Harris and Andrew French who added 70 runs at eight an over to take the home side to victory by five wickets.
Stamford are now looking over their shoulder and are in need of a win to move back into the top half of the table.
