BLACKSTONES assistant boss Andy Mills believes his side's derby destruction of Bourne on Tuesday night was something they had been threatening all season.
Mills' men roared to their biggest victory of the season after smashing four unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes of a derby duel they had dominated.
And, after seeing Stones fail to get their deserved rewards on numerous occasions this season, Mills was delighted with their efforts against a virtually full-strength Bourne side.
He said: "We had been threatening to do that all season and it all came right for us.
"We got the first goal, started to relax and then got the other goals we deserved.
"I was very pleased and everyone at the club is elated about the result."
The victory moved Stones eight points clear of the bottom two relegation places while sending their local rivals back to the foot of the table following Potton's 1-0 win over Wellingborough on Tuesday night.
Mills added: "We were very close to the relegation zone and I told the players before the game that they could choose their own destiny.
"They could either start fighting and make sure that we're not in that position come the end of the season or get into a position where we start panicking."
Stones had the better chances in the opening half with Jon Stead dragging a 17th minute effort wide and then finding himself in acres of space down the left only to be thwarted by a superb finger-tip save from Wakes goalkeeper Martin Lakin.
Lakin then tipped an in-swinging corner from Kevin Ainslie onto the crossbar before a blocking a low shot from Adam Scotcher.
Bourne briefly threatened with Andy Toyne, Matt Hodgkin and Danny Cartwright all flashing shots wide, but Stones goalkeeper Ian Flavell was rarely troubled against his former club.
Stones thought they had taken a 53rd minute lead when Scotcher's cross to the back post was bundled home by Chris McRoyal, but his effort was ruled out for hand-ball.
Lakin then produced a tremdous double save to thwart Wakes old boy Richard Jones, but he was powerless to prevent Stones taking the advantage atfer 59 minutes.
Mark Jones was felled on the edge of the box and Ainslie's well-struck free-kick took a wicked deflection off the Wakes' defensive wall to wrong-foot Lakin.
Stones doubled their lead with 16 minutes remaining when Mark Jones' audacious chip cannoned back off the crossbar for Andy Boome to fire home the rebound.
Scotcher continued Stones' scoring spree with 10 minutes remaining as he capitalised on some hesitant Bourne defending to round Lakin and fire home.
Mark Jones then sealed his former club's fate in the last minute when he headed home a cross from McRoyal.
