TOWN saw their early advantage wiped out as four goals in a crazy 15-minute spell ended their Leicestershire Senior Cup hopes on Saturday.
Richard Kendrick's side had taken a shock lead against their table-topping Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division hosts.
But any hopes of causing a cup shock were dashed as Nomads plundered four goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half to ease to victory.
Kendrick said: "I was over the moon when we went ahead and thought we were going to have a real go at beating them.
"But we had a mad 15 minutes just before half-time and it was game over after that."
Rich Lewin had headed Town into an unexpected when he timed his run to perfection to convert a corner.
And Town more than held their own against their big-spending hosts who finally drew level on the half-hour mark.
Kendrick felt the goal should have been disallowed as an Anstey player made a false call, but it was allowed to stand and the hosts never looked back.
They scored three more goals before the interval to leave Town staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat.
However, Town refused to roll over in the second period and came close to scoring on two occasions only for Dave Laughton to see his efforts superbly saved by the Anstey keeper.
Nomads then sealed their passage into the last 16 when they added a fifth from the penalty spot.
The unfortunate Lewin then headed into his own net after the ball took a late deflection to alter its flight.
Town are in cup action again this weekend when they travel to Parson Drove in the PFA Senior Cup.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Tods Piece a fortnight ago.
Town will be without the services of highly-rated centre-back Andy Allison who has joined United Counties League Division One side Whitworths.
