STAMFORD carried on building for the NLD competition with a tough match against West Norfolk.
They ensured all their players got a good run out and changes kept occurring which disrupted Stamford's rhythm and resulted in West going into a three-try lead.
Ferocious defence from Nairn, Spice and Jones enabled McFaden's brace and Lipscombe to bring Stamford back into the game.
However, sloppy play by West's 22 let them off the hook and allowed the visitors to go the length of the field to score the decisive try.
Coach Jai Nairn said: "Again the lads showed good spirit and aggression up front and the backs look dangerous when given the ball which looks promising for this weekend's NLD Cup match at home to Ilkeston."
Stamford Under 10s narrowly missed out on glory when they travelled to Nottingham Boots Corsairs on Sunday to take part in the Prima Tigers Cup festival.
They had three games in their qualifying group, but lost their opening contest 2-0 against Spalding.
They bounced back to beat excellent teams from Melbourne and Ilkeston 2-0 to continue their progress after a change in playing personnel for the season.
Head coach Rob Russell said: "Progress across the team is excellent. Sometime soon they are going to give someone a real whacking.
"It was an excellent performance and I don't think we are far away. Given a little more time we will be competing with the best of them."
Stamford's try scorers were Alex Chapman, Harry Baker and James Keane (2).
Spalding and Nottingham went on to contest the final which Nottingham won by a single try.
