Youngsters pass their Spanish test

STAMFORD Under 10s faced their first-ever international opposition when they took on a Spanish team in an invitational game with hosts Kesteven.
Despite the appalling weather conditions, Stamford came out victorious in both games.

They edged a well-fought affair against Kesteven by a solitary try before running out 7-2 victors against their long distance visitors from Madrid.

Stamford: Rory Russell, Jacob Turp, Harry Baker, Anthony Elliott, Jacob Stenson, Henrick MacAldin, Max Wakeford, Jay WIlliams, Robert Stoddart, Charles Worrall, Adrian Choy, George Brown.

The Under 10s fielded two teams – Thunder and Lightning – in the home fixture with Sleaford.

Thunder lost both their games while Lightning were also edged out by Sleaford despite tries from Jacob Stenson, Ben Hill-Brookes and Alex Cooper.

Lightning: Ben Hill-Brookes, Alex Cooper, Adrian Choy, Henrick MacAldin, Jacob Stenson, Jack Otterburn, Marcus Baxter, Jamie Morton, Max Wakeford.

Fitness told as Stamford Under 12s were beaten by Sleaford in their three matches.

The team had returned undefeated from their trip to face hosts Market Rasen and Grimsby last weekend.

They shared the spoils with Rasen after an Angus Collett effort, converted by Kieran Hynes, was cancelled out in the second period.

Stamford's defence was more resolute in the second game against Grimsby which produced a victory from Ryan Fincham's unconverted effort.

Stamford: Elliot Moss, Angus Collett, Callum Norris, Alastair Choy, Angus Grafton, George Cox, Oliver Winspear, Jonathan Smith, Kristopher Howe, Tom Davies, Ryan Fincham, James Stables, Jordan Baxter, Edward Hinch, Sebastian Cadwallader, Kieran Hynes, Luke Ford, Nick Webb, Andrew Marshall.

Stamford Under 11s ran in a series of tries against Sleaford.

Winger Sidwell and outside centre Paget both claimed hat-tricks with fly-half Johnston bagging a brace.

Further tries from inside centre Guy and full-back Taylor sealed a 10-0 opening victory.

They was followed by an 8-0 win with tries from Wills, Sedgewick, Nettleto, Evison, Durrans, Sidwell and Paget (2).

They had made the long trip worthwhile with back-to-back victories at Market Rasen last weekend.

They outplayed their hosts in all departments to win the opening match 8-0 thanks to tries from Guy (2), Paget (2), Taylor, Anand, Sidwell and Wills.

Stamford made some experimental changes in the next game which they edged 3-2 courtesy of tries from Sedgewick, Sidwell and Evison.

Stamford Under 9s suffered back-to-back defeats against Sleaford's A team.

William Dickinson scored a brilliant try for Stamford, but they were unable to resist Sleaford's advances despite superb tackling from Charlie Penrose-Toms.

They had shared the spoils with Market Rasen last weekend thanks toa Will Sables score before beating Grimsby 5-2 in their final outing.

Stamford: Alisdair Ager, Alex Agnew, Toby Anderson, Jack Batty, Harry Bentley, Kieron Bird, Alistair Bourne, George Chandler, Neil Colvin, Will Dickinson, Harry Elsden, Jamie Fiztpatrick, Thomas Giddens, Nicolas Green, Joshua McGreevy, Molly Richardson, William Stables, Charlie Thain, Edward Thurston, Charlie Penrose-Toms, Jack Watson, Benjamin Potte.

Stamford Under 8s showed their strength in numbers by fielding two sides – Tigers and Bulls – against Sleaford.

The Tigers shared the spoils in a 6-6 opening draw with doubles scores from Tom Baxter, Jacob Shamski and Harry Miller.

The Bulls were 5-3 victors in their match with tries from Archie Hill (2), Gabby Marechal, Archie Offer and Alex Troth.

The two Stamford teams clashed in the final match with the Bulls running out 6-3 victors.

Charlie Kidd (2), Chester Hooper (2), Marechal and Hill scored for the Bulls with Miller claiming a hat-trick for the Tigers.

The team had a record turn-out of 16 players who were split into two sides to face Market Rasen last weekend.

The Tigers opened with a 7-2 success over Market Rasen B with scores from Marechal, Offer (2), Hooper (2), Miller and Jack Moggridge.

They then defeated Market Rasen A 7-6 in close contest with Moggridge (2), Troth, Marechal and debutant Kidd among the scorers.

The Bulls found Market Rasen A just too strong in a 6-5 defeat despite tries from Shamshi, Baxter, Sam Baker, Jarred Carver and Hill.

They bounced back though with a 5-5 draw against Market Rasen B with Hill (2), Sam Bentley and Luke Hills (2) on target.
