Mafia clinch title on tricky final day

Oakham Angling Club’s final Winter League match of the year was fished at Eye Kettleby lakes on Lake 7 on Sunday.

With the league wide open there was everything to fish for but the venue turned out to be very disappointing with several dry nets.

On the individual front, the match was won by Oakham Mafia’s Ian Bullimore who put together a fine 12lb 10oz from peg 24.

South Witham’s Nick Measures came second with 8lb 11oz from peg 23 with Ben Sharp third, off peg17 with 6lb 4oz.

Oakham Mafia came from behind to pip South Witham and M&B in the team competiton, finishing on 12 points, two ahead of Witham and M&B.

There was a three way tie in the individual series with Ben Sharp, Charlie Woodley, and Ian Bullimore all finishing level on 22 points.

Section winners on the day were Paul Bird, Dave Thornton, Ben Sharp and Ian Bullimore.

The club thanked everyone who took part in the league, and organisers Bob Burton and Dave Dakers.
