South Witham anglers win second round of Oakham’s winter league
The second round of Oakham Angling Club’s Winter League was fished at Stretton Lakes at the weekend.
Conditions for the anglers were attrotious but the venue still fished remarkably well.
On the team front, South Witham came out on top, jontly with Rutlanders Red. Both teams registered 24 points.
Filling third spot for the second week running was Oakham Mafia with 17 points.
South Witham have taken an early lead in the league, closely followed by Red, with M&B and Oakham Mafia tied for third.
South Witham’s Ben Sharp won the individual competition with an excellent 45lb 15oz.
Second place went to Rutlanders Red’s Denis Dalby with 32lb 15oz. In third, and keeping it the family, was Ben’s grandfather, Keith Measures who weighed in 30lb 2oz.
The club’s next committee meeting is on Monday at Oakham’s Griff Inn at 7.30pm.
