Oakham sprint is added to series

Oakham has been added by British Triathlon as a venue for the East Midlands 2013 race series.

Racetime Events will host a sprint triathlon for adults and a junior triathlon on June 30 next year.

Organiser Johnny Nicol said: “The event is suitable for all levels of athlete with a large number of entrants being complete novices looking at doing their first Triathlon.

“There is also the option of entering the event as a relay team with friends or work colleagues.

“By adding a Junior event we hope that this will be a fun-filled, family day out with stalls and refreshments to add to the atmosphere.”

Catmose Sports Centre will be the start venue with a 400m pool swim before a 22km bike course, and 5k run.

Nicol added: “We are thrilled and excited about this new race and believe that the bike section of the event is simply stunning.”

The organisers have chip timing to ensure accurate results and there will be prizes for first, second and third placed male and female competitors and age category winners. For details www.racetime-events.co.uk
