Strider Simon enjoys a superb start to the year

Stamford Strider Simon Fell capped his first race of the year with a victory at Wellingborough on Sunday.

Simon was first over the line in the 10k cross country course in a time of 34min 57secs.

It was a strong performance by a Striders team that included several who had been due to take part in the postponed 15-mile run at Folksworth.

Mark Popple finished sixth in the snowy conditions, ducking under 40 minutes in 39.58, followed by Nicholas Smith (48.34) and Celina Silver (56.45).

Paul Massingham opted for another lap of the course and finished an impressive fourth over 15k - in a time of 55:25.
