Steve Best was at his finest as Barnack won their derby duel at home to Burghley Park by 48 runs in the Huntingdonshire League on Saturday.
The hosts were put into bat with Best striking a middle order 65 to push Barnack towards 186 all out.
Prior to Best’s knock, Park had made good inroads with Mark Mason claiming Barnack’s first three batsmen cheaply.
Mason finished with 3 for 43 off 12 overs. Michael Jones also claimed three wickets for a meagre 30 runs while Adam Renton, whose scalps included that of Best, also bagged three wickets.
In reply, Burghley Park appeared to have settled after the early dismissal of opener David Cannie for 2. Robert Emery (45) and Renton (31) pushed the score along nicely but once they fell, Steve and Robert Best rattled through Park’s innings like a knife through butter with no other batsman reaching double figures as Burghley ended all out for 138.
Steve Best finished with 4 for 17 off just four overs and Robert Best 3 for 12 from his six overs. Waheed Javed (1 for 34) and Muhammad Sohail (2 for 29) took the remaining wickets.
The result leaves Barnack mid-table in division while Burghley Park are just one above the bottom.
