Bears are through to quarter finals of Burghley Sixes

Hosts Burghley Bears progressed to the quarter finals of the 2013 Burghley Sixes along with Castor and Newborough on Tuesday evening.

The Bears shaded Old Oakhamiams’ 64 in the fifth over with David Jackson scoring 38 not out. Adam Renton took 1 for 5 for the Bears and Simon Hartly 1 for 7 for the Oaks.

Castor chased down Ketton’s 80 runs in the second game of the evening with two batsmen just short of half-centuries - Ketton’s Craig Wilson, and Castor’s Wheat 48no.

In the final game, Newborough beat Uffington, chasing 49 with Compton taking 1 for 4.

The winning trio join Yaxley, Oakham and Nassington in the last eight.

The first quarter final (Yaxley v Nassington) takes place this evening after the final two first round matches: Stamford v Empingham, and Ufford v Uppingham.

The three remaining quarter finals take place tomorrow with the semis and grand final on Friday evening.

Sixes action starts at 6.30pm at Burghley Park Cricket Club each evening.
