Bourne dismissed Peterborough Town for just 45 on Sunday to take a giant step towards their first Rutland Division One title.
It was a ruthless display by Bourne against the reigning champions who had an outside chance of winning the title themselves before today.
Colin Cheer was the main man for Bourne taking 7-14 from just eight overs and four balls. Xanti Xipu claimed the other three wickets as only Alex Mitchell reached double figures for Town.
Carl Wilson had earlier cracked a superb 106 as Bourne amassed 267-5 in their 45 overs at the Abbey Lawns. Bourne are now 10 points clear at the top with just two matches remaining.
Wisbech Town’s hopes of a first title were dashed in spectacular style as Oundle thrashed them by 189 runs at Milton Road. Andrew Reynoldson smashed 105 for Oundle and skipper Mark Hodgson (91) fell just short of a ton for the second Sunday in a row as the home side posted an imposing 269-5.
Wisbech made just 80 in reply with skipper Gary Freear making 31 of them. Oundle still have a slim chance of finishing top, but they have 20 points to make up in two matches.
Barnack’s surge to safety continued with an eight-run win in a high-scoring thriller at March. Asim Butt (92) and Ajaz Akhtar (66) put on 140 for the first Barnack wicket in just 20 overs as the visitors racked up 253-7.
Toby Nulty (55) led the March reply, but four wickets for Steve Best ensured they fell just short.
Rock-bottom Stamford enjoyed a morale-boosting 125-run win over the nine men of Eaton Socon. Zac Chappell walloped 106 from 58 balls for Stamford, while Clive Simmons and Andrew Hulme both registered half centuries.
