Brilliant Bryan is hat-trick hero

THE Ex got their first win in the Leicester Alliance Sunday League against one of the favourites for the Division Four title.

The home team struggled to cope with the pace of a young and energetic Exeter Arms team with Will Thomas and Scott Bryan continually bursting down both flanks and new signings Dave Laughton and Ollie Webb overpowering the Harrow back line from start to finish.

The first half was all Exeter and constant pressure from a rejuvenated strike force led to a rushed clearance from Harrow that fell to the impressive Bryan who struck the ball first time into the roof of the net from 25-yards with only five minutes gone.

The home team started to find their feet, however, they left themselves exposed at the back and a quick-thinking Graham Williams in the Exeter goal released the ball for a counter attack.

The pinpoint pass left Laughton through on goal with only a defender to beat, but he decided to lash the ball with his left-foot on the half-volley from 20 yards to make it 2-0.

More pressure down the left wing and some great individual skill from Bryan quickly made it 3-0 just before the break.

Harrow started the second half strongly, but it didn't last for long and another counter-attacking ball was played in and the struggling home defender panicked and handled in the box with Bryan converting the penalty for his hat-trick.

Tiredness started to then become a factor and the home team were really pushing forward and finally got a deserved goal which served to give them a new lease of life.

The Ex held on but in the dying minutes a dubious challenge from full-back Nathan Day gave a sloppy penalty away and with the last kick of the game Harrow made it 4-2.
