CRICKET: Brace of half centuries are not enough for Oakham

OAKHAM'S lost to Billesdon by six wickets yesterday despite half centuries from skipper Sean Cowley and Bhavin Shukla at the Lime Kilns.

The first team picked up nine points in division three, more than the teams immediately below them in the Everards Leicestershire League, after hitting 200-5 from their 45 overs.

In reply Billesdon 204 for 4 in just 32.3 overs.

OAKHAM 2nds' promotion hopes took a blow at Enderby where the hosts' 2nd XI enjoyed a winning draw to move above Oakham into fourth place in division seven.

Enderby were bowled out for 143 with Matt Osman (4 for 34) and Bob Inchely (5 for 47) the principal wicket-takers.

Opening batsman Graham Cooper made 37, and Andrew Counsell 26, but otherwise Oakham's batsmen struggled to add runs although they held onto their last wicket to end on 113 for nine.
