Big night at ‘smallest’ club

The self-titled smallest cricket club in the smallest county held their biggest night of the year , the club’s presentation evening, recently.

Players, vice-presidents, family and friends of Tolethorpe Park Cricket Club held their end of season awards and social evening at the Crown, Great Casterton on Saturday.

An enjoyable time was had by all as club captain Martyn Davies reflected on a difficult year in which only 11 games were completed due in a major part to the atrocious summer weather.

Award winners for 2012 were: Jonathan Digby (batting), Martyn Davies (bowling), Henry Bolton (most improved player) and James Sewell (captain’s catch).

The Nick Carr Corinthian Vase was awarded to Bourne’s Motley Crew Cricket Club for taking part in a game on the diamond jubilee weekend in conditions more suitable for water polo.

A special award was made to Nick Carr, who has stepped down after nine years as groundsman.

Indoor nets will start in February with new players welcome to join the club. For details call Andy Bullimore 01780 720683.
