CRICKET: Market Deeping defeat Bourne in derby day run fest

Two weeks ago, they were bottom of the Lincs ECB Premier League table, last week they were fifth and now Market Deeping have climbed to third place following a high scoring game at Bourne.

Chris Dring made the league's highest total of the day with 120 at Abbey Lawn with new overseas signing Craig Williams making 95 as the home side clocked up 282 for five.

Jonathan Wright with 88 and Tom Andrews (71) got Deeping's reply off to a good start but it was Lee Peacock with a quickfire 105 not out who took Deeping to a four wicket victory.

At the other end of the scale – and the table – Messingham were dismissed for 83 by Nettleham for whom James McKay took five for 43.

But the visitors made hard work of their pursuit, losing seven wickets before claiming their win.

This gave Nettleham 20 points and with Bracebridge Heath also picking up the maximum, these two are now drawing ahead of the pack at the top of the table.

Playing at London Road, Bracebridge hit the highest team total with 305 for eight, Nick John, Paul Cook and Mark Fell all making half centuries and Jonathan Miller taking five wickets for Sleaford.

South African Tom Khoza then took five for 29 as the home side were all out for 105.

Skegness stayed fourth after making 169 for six at Lindum, Tony Santini unbeaten on 52.

At 74 for two in the 29th over, the home side were in a strong position but the next three wickets went for only 16 runs and Lindum could only hold for the extra points for the draw, finishing on 132 for nine.

Woodhall Spa also topped the 300 mark as they finally found some batting form.

Warren Nel hit 110 and Conrad Louth 64 to help the total to 304 for three, but opponents Louth were also on good batting form, Jim Morgan making 102 as the visitors reached 261 for six at the close.

Another century was scored at Caistor, where Grimsby's Gihan Perrera made an unbeaten 116 and Steve Crossley hit 53, while Perrera's fellow Sri Lankan Sahan Wijerathne took five wickets for the home side.

Grimsby notched up 248 for eight then bowled Caistor out for 141 to move back into the top half of the table.
