DAN Duke picked up a career best of seven for 42 as Billingborough picked up 20 points with a victory at Moulton Harrox on Saturday.
The win, Billingborough’s 11th of the season, maintains their healthy lead at the top of the South Lincs and Border League’s first division.
Billingborough won the toss and fielded first against a depleted Moulton side, missing six regulars. The hosts could only muster a poor 100 off 27 overs with Jack Barnett top scoring with 40 to take his tally to 507 runs in the league.
Duke’s pace smashed through the Harrox batting line-up, claiming five early wickets to leave them struggling at 45-5 off just 15 overs.
This was his second 5 wicket haul of the season and he added two more, taking his season’s tally to 25, as he finished with 7-42 off 12 overs.
Stuart Gollop claimed the last three wickets with this left arm spin, including Jack Barnett for 40.
With 62 overs required to knock off 100, it was all in Boro’s favour.
Last week’s hero, Geordie Scott was the only Billingborough batsman to fall, trying to hit over the top he was caught by John Barnett off the bowling of Harry Barnett for 17.
Boro cruised to 100-1 in 28 overs with Dave Newman unbeaten on 59 to take his tally past 550 runs going into the second half of the season.
In division two, second-placed Billingborough 2nds beat Boston 3rds. They face Stamford Town 2nds tomorrow.
Division three leaders North Luffenham lost to Grantham 2nd by six wickets. They face Baston tomorrow.
