Dixon’s 77 is not enough for Bourne

Tom Dixon struck 77 as Bourne fell short against Finedon Dolben in division one of the Rutland League on Sunday.

Bourne lost by two wickets after reaching 202 in a shade under 41 overs.

As well as Dixon’s knock, which included 10 fours and 2 sixes, middle order partner Jack Berry added 30. However the innings failed to ignite either side of the pair and wickets regularly falling.

Finedon’s James Barker did most damage, taking three for 29 off nine overs.

Finedon also lost cheap wickets with number two Scott Lawniczak going for a duck but enough batsmen settled to see the hosts home with 203 for 8 in the 49th over. Jonathan Dunne struck and unbeaten 64.

Bourne tried six bowlers with each claimed a wicket. Berry’s 2 for 33 off four wasn’t cheap but claimed the best return of wickets.
