STAMFORD Bels aim to bounce back to the Peterborough and District League’s Premier Division at the first attempt after last Saturday’s results consigned them to relegation.
A 3-2 defeat at Whittlesey sealed Bels’ fate but boss Martin Conneely insists his side will rebuild and return to the top flight as quickly as possible.
Conneely said: “I’m disappointed but I feel more down for the lads who have given their all to the cause.
“The Premier Division is the best football in the area and we want to be part of it again.
“We’ll lose two or three players as a result of going down, but we have to keep the majority of the boys together and look to attract a few new faces.
An own goal and a strike from Jamie Keegan drew Bels level after they fell two behind last Saturday but as the Stamford lads piled forward in search of a winner they were caught on the break with five minutes to go.
