Blackstones’ struggle for form continued on Saturday with a 5-0 defeat to Burton Park.
Stones opened the game strongly and for the first 30 minutes dominated the game, however they failed once again to convert the chances created.
Gradually Burton began to exert pressure and now looked a more experienced and stronger side than the Stones.
With five minutes of the half remaining disaster struck the Stones and within four minutes found themselves trailing by three goals.
The first came in the 41st minute whenBurton bundled the ball home.
Stones’ heads went down allowing Burton to burst through again and within a minute added number two.
Straight from the kick off a charged Burton won two quick corners and fired in number three.
The opening 10 minutes of the second period saw Stones pressing forward which ultimately cost them a goal in the 55th minute as they were caught on the counterattack by Burton and it was 4-0.
From then on Stones looked a dejected team and Burton broke through at will, failing to increase their lead by bad finishing, much to a relieved Stones.
However Burton were not finished and in the 79th minute Stones’ defence stood still allowing Burton to add number five.
With Burton easing back in the final minites, Stones had three great chances to reduce the arrears, but were unable to convert them.
A poor display by Stones considering the improvement shown in the previous two games. A goal scorer is required urgently if they are to climb out of the bottom three of the table,
Blackstones are at home again on Saturday when they entertain On Chenecks, kick-off 3pm.
On the September 21, Blackstones entertain Boston Town in the FA Vase Competition, kick-off 3pm.
