Wakes boss Rafa Mazzarella felt it was a case of two points dropped rather than one gained for Bourne Town on Saturday when they failed to take their late chances to beat Northampton ON Chenecks in the UCL Division One.

Bourne drew 1-1 at home at the Abbey Lawn after Aris Placis missed an open goal at the end while Harley Williams failed to convert a first-half penalty.

All the goals were scored in the opening period as Montel Dore put ON Chenecks ahead before Joe Bull and Jones De Sousa replied, only for Adam Hancock to level.

Bourne boss Mazzarella reflected: “It was a dreadful moment to miss an open goal with just a few minutes to go.

“But I don’t believe in saying we could have or should have done this or that. We would have taken a point at the beginning and in the end it felt like two points dropped.”
